Kayaking in Elkhorn Slough

The Elkhorn Slough is basically a wildlife wonderland of brackish water and you paddle right through the middle of it. Otters everywhere, seals popping up left and right, it feels like something out of a nature documentary, except you're in it!

Bring shoes you are ready to get wet, or full foot sandals like Chacos or Tevas. The Kayaking place will supply jackets and/or pants if you want to be waterproofed, but the weather is usually pretty good to let the sun soak you along with the water!

Whale Watching

This might be the highlight of the whole week (aside from the wedding hehe). Monterey Bay Whale Watching takes you right out into the bay, and the odds are genuinely good you'll see humpbacks up close, plus dolphins, sea lions, harbor seals, and if the stars align, orcas! We have even managed to see a blue whale spout… fingers crossed!

You'll need to reserve your own spot for this one, it's not a group booking.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is hands-down one of the best aquariums anywhere and it does not disappoint. Jellyfish displays that stop you in your tracks, a two story kelp forest that feels almost otherworldly, and architectural elements that involve the fish themselves.

We’ll probably go early before the school trips pack the place with kids!

Rehearsal Dinner

Location TBD, but plan for a casual dinner with everyone the night before the big day. It always gets chilly at night on the NorCal coast, so bring a layer!

The Ceremony

The Ceremony

We'll be getting married on a cliff in Big Sur, we can't wait!

A quick heads up: there's a short hike on uneven ground to reach the ceremony spot, so comfortable shoes are a must, flats or tennis shoes are your best bet (save the heels for later!).

Dress code is garden party attire, and since we're right on the coast, come prepared for a little wind and bring a wrap or jacket just in case. More details to come, and the big reveal the day of!

Post-Ceremony Dinner

Once we've said "I do," the guests head to cocktail hour and dinner to celebrate together . After Garrett and I have taken our sunset pictures we’ll join for a vegetarian meal, wedding cake, and a few family photos with our photographer to capture the day. Just good food and good company as we soak it all in. More details to come!
